Luck to miss week 1 game against Rams, Tolzien gets nod to start

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Colts are gearing up for their season opener against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

One big question mark heading into the season has been the health of quarterback Andrew Luck, who was recently taken off the PUP list on Saturday.

During his 11 a.m. press conference, GM Chris Ballard ruled Luck out for Week 1 against the Rams in Los Angeles. Instead, Scott Tolzien will start under center for the Colts on Sunday.

Ballard did not say how many weeks of practice Luck might need before returning to game action – though it’s likely to be fewer than the six weeks he would have been out had he started the regular season on PUP.

Additionally, Ballard also spoke about the team’s recent acquisition of quarterback Jacoby Brissett from the New England Patriots in exchange for wide receiver Phillip Dorsett.

Head coach Chuck Pagano also spoke about his team’s readiness for the Rams on Sunday.
