IndyCar racer Graham Rahal helps out at food provider
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – NTT IndyCar Series driver Graham Rahal spent time Wednesday morning giving back to the Indianapolis community.
Rahal helped pack and deliver food at Second Helpings, a nonprofit which addresses hunger and poverty in Central Indiana.
“It’s great to have someone draw attention to the work that we’re doing,” said Second Helpings CEO Linda Broadfoot.
Rahal was there to help out on “Fifth Third (5/3) Day,” which is a day that his sponsor, Fifth Third Bank, uses to make a difference in communities.
“It’s important that people – I don’t care who you are or what you do – everybody gives back and pays it forward,” Rahal said.
While at Second Helpings, Rahal met the staff and interacted with volunteers.
“One of the other gentleman we met, he’s accumulated over 6,400 hours of volunteer time here at Second Helpings,” Rahal said. “That’s unbelievable to think about.”
Fifth Third Bank also presented a check for $15,000 to Second Helpings on Wednesday.
