Wallaby on the loose in Lowell
LOWELL, Ind. (WISH) — Residents in Lowell, IN. could see something unexpected this weekend…a wallaby hopping around town.
A wallaby escaped from a traveling petting zoo Wednesday morning from his cage where the zoo was set up at the Harvest Tyme Pumpkin Patch and has been seen roaming the area.
Animal Fest Petting Zoo owner, Dan Wallen, an Indiana native, operates the petting zoo out of Tucson, AZ and sets up at events around the country and posted a photograph of an empty cage on his Facebook page Wednesday morning with the caption, “So I come outside and to my surprise my wallaby be is missing!!”
Wallen could not immediately be reached by telephone Thursday afternoon.
Often mistaken for a kangaroo, wallabies are cousins to the kangaroo and natives of Australia.
