Fire destroys church and other businesses on north side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Fire crews were called to building fire Sunday morning and remained on the scene for several hours.

Crews were called to the 3900 block of Boulevard Place around 11:45 a.m. Sunday on reports of a building on fire. The address of the fire listed is for Tree of Life Ministries.

Indianapolis Fire Department the pastor of the Tree of Life Ministries told investigators that there were four to six people inside the church conducting a virtual service and noticed smoke in the ceiling.

Everyone inside evacuated and no one was injured.

Investigators said a total of four businesses are a part of the structure.

The west side of the building collapsed as crews battled the fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
