The Film Yap reviews Incredibles 2, Tag and more
It’s gonna be a balmy 90 degrees this weekend, so why not skip the heat and stay inside?! How about catching a movie?
The Film Yap’s Christopher Lloyd runs down the list of “what’s playing!”
Incredibles 2 — Disney/Pixar’s family of superheroes is back, and while it’s still a lot of fun they somehow turned into a talkie sitcom. When is Frozone going to ditch wingman status and get his own screen gig?
Tag — A group of aging classmates are still playing the elaborate game of tag they started in school decades ago in this frisky comedy starring Jon Hamm, Ed Helms and Jeremy Renner.
American Animals — This intriguing mix of drama/reenactment/documentary looks at the true story of a group of students who attempted a heist of valuable books from the college library.
Won’t You Be My Neighbor? — This weepie documentary takes a look at Fred Rogers, the iconic host of the beloved children’s show that lasted for decades.
Superfly — Trevor Jackson stars as an Atlanta drug dealer on top of the world who’s looking to retire young, but finds it isn’t so easy in this gritty drama.
The Seagull — Saoirse Ronan, Annette Bening and Elisabeth Moss star in this drama about an aging actress causing a stir during a visit to a wealthy family’s estate.
Love, Simon — This smart, charming and sensitive dramedy looks at a gay high school student carrying on an anonymous affair while in the closet. One of the year’s best. Buy It.
