Community Link: Indiana Native American Indian Affairs Commission

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Each week in Community Link Carolene Mays-Medley and Marco Dominguez take a look at an organization or business that is making a positive impact on the community.

This week that organization is the Indiana Native American Indian Affairs Commission.

Melissa Williams, the director of the commission stopped by to talk about the organization.

More than 50,000 Native Americans live in Indiana, mostly in the northern part of the state.

The organization spends times studying issues that are important to Native Americans, talking to them about the issues that matter to them and then trying to find a resolution to those issues.

The commission also does some advocating as well.

The commission will hold its next meeting on Feb. 20 at 1 p.m. at the Eiteljorg Museum.
