Bloomington company lets you customize your skin care and “pay what you can afford”

Soap… with a purpose. What’s the story behind it?

Well, here to explain are Anthony Duncan and Mohammed A. Mahdi, The Mad Optimist.

About The Mad Optimist:

The Mad Optimist is a personalized body care brand based in Bloomington, Indiana. They’re three guys who’ve been in the soap business for the past 7 years.  Formerly known as Soapy Soap Company, they rebranded to more closely communicate their mission: change the way business is done, for the better. Rather than going the conventional business route, they started from their core beliefs and at every junction, they asked themselves, “what would be the most genuine, positive, uplifting, world improving way that would make a difference?”

Indiana company lets you customize your skin care and “pay what you can afford”

The Mad Optimist folks think that everyone should have access to healthy, all-natural body care, and thus implemented a “pay-what-you-can-afford” pricing structure. All employees are paid the exact same wage, from the CEO to the janitor, since everyone is working together contributing to the company’s mission. They also are very serious with being transparent; you can see their true, up-to-date monthly revenue numbers posted live on their website

When it comes to their products, they decided to only use all-natural, vegan, cruelty-free and plant-based ingredients. They also offer 100% personalized body care: you get to choose your scents, exfoliants, skin type, and even the name that goes on your product label! The Mad Optimist products make for great, locally made all-natural, personalized gifts; and with Mother’s Day coming around the corner, this would be perfect!  Use code INDYSTYLE, and they’ll throw in a free mini lip balm with your order.
