Brother of Colts player killed in drive-by shooting

CHEROKEE Co., S.C. (WSPA/WISH) — The coroner says a Gaffney man was killed in his home during a drive-by shooting.

The victim is identified as Overton Deshan Good, 23, of 1521 Pleasant School Road.

Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler says Good was killed Tuesday morning.

“Mr. Good and a friend were in the residence when gunfire erupted about 8:30 a.m. Multiple bullets struck the single wide mobile home, one of them striking the victim in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene,” Fowler said in a release.

The shooting is under investigation by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Steve Mueller said investigators are working to develop a person or persons of interest in the case.

Family members confirmed that Good is the brother of NFL star Denzelle Good, who is a lineman for the Indianapolis Colts. They said he had just returned home a few days ago from watching his brother play.

The Colts issued this statement via an image on Twitter:

“The Indianapolis Colts family is so saddened to learn of the passing of Overton Good, brother of our very own Denzelle Good, in South Carolina. This tragedy is unimaginable for his loved ones and friends, and our heartfelt prayers go out to Denzelle and his entire family during this trying time.”
