Fishers police seek older woman, younger man cloning cards using ATMs

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) — Fishers police are asking for the public’s help tracking down two fraudsters in a sophisticated credit card scam.

Police called the twosome a “not so dynamic duo.”

They have stolen thousands of dollars from victims in recent weeks, police said.

Fishers police told News 8 the two involved are an older woman and a younger man, which makes them more unsuspecting.

“OK. That is an odd combo!” said Fishers resident Kyle Short.

The city’s residents were taken aback when they saw pictures released by police of the twosome.

Investigators said the man and woman are working together to steal people’s money.

Police took to Facebook on Friday, released the suspects’ photos and asked for the public to keep their eyes peeled as authorities work to track them down.

Fishers resident Tracy Verble said, “No, you don’t expect that here in Fishers. You might be a little less careful, I guess, because you don’t think that’s going to happen here.”

Police say the two are stealing people’s credit card information through the use of ATMs. They’ve already made off with $1,700.

Investigators said the scheme gets more sophisticated than just simple credit card theft.

Police told News 8 some of the information they’ve gotten was stolen with the victim’s credit card still in their wallet.

It’s a scary situation leaving a financial mess for you to clean up.

“I’ve had my credit card hacked four times in the last fives years,” Fort Wayne resident Dave Winebrenner said. “There’s nothing I can do about it except be on the alert. You know, I mean, you can’t shoot ’em, so what are you going to do about it?”

Police said they believe the thieves are cloning the credit cards.

Until the two are caught, the Fishers fraudsters have residents protecting themselves so they don’t become the next victim.

“I’m just not gonna get cash for a while from the ATM,” Short said.

Fishers police told News 8 they have already been looking for the man in the photos in multiple other instances after he used the cash advance option on credit cards to scam people out of their money.

If you know anything, call police.
