Family Dollar stores to start selling alcohol

(WISH) — Discount retailer Family Dollar is looking to boost sales by making alcohol available for purchase at its stores. 

According to USA Today, about 1,000 stores will begin selling booze. 

The announcement comes after the retailer said it will close almost 400 stores in 2019. The chain already closed more than 120 stores last year. 

Plans of rebranding 200 stores are in process. 

USA Today reports plans to expand party goods sections as well as test higher-priced products at its exclusive one-dollar locations.
