Faulty switch causes power outages south of Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – There were power outages Friday morning for multiple counties while temperatures dipped below zero was caused by a faulty switch.

At 7 a.m., 2,798 South Central REMC customers were without power. Brown County and Johnson County were both affected.

Duke had 614 customers without power, primarily focused in Bartholomew and Tippecanoe counties.

According to 24-Hour News 8’s news partners at the Daily Journal, the power outage was caused by a faulty switch at a substation near Prince’s Lakes.

Duke Energy had power restored within two hours.
