Golf outing honors memory of fallen IMPD officer
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An annual golf outing honored an IMPD officer one golf hole at a time Thursday.
IMPD Officer Jake Laird was killed in the line of duty on Aug. 18, 2004.
Following his death, Laird’s parents formed a non-profit agency dedicated to providing money for police and firefighters who are injured on the job.
The Jake Laird Golf Outing is held every year on the anniversary of his death.
The memorial fund has raised and donated nearly $640,000 to injured first responders throughout Indiana.
