Deion ‘Coach Prime’ Sanders coming to speak in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders is coming to Indianapolis. Steward Speakers announced he’s the headline speaker for its 2024 Annual Gala and Award Ceremony.

Sanders, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, the head coach of the Colorado University Buffaloes football program, and formerly at Jackson State University, will bring his unique charm to the event. The 2023-2024 speaker season theme is “Sports and Education and the Impact on the African American Community.”

Vernon Williams, communications and community engagement strategist at IUPUI, shared Sanders’ influence on Historically Black Colleges and Universities and college football.

“Coach Sanders” impact on HBCUs and all of college football is immeasurable. Williams said IUPUI is proud to be the title sponsor for the speaker series for the eighth consecutive season.

Matthew Steward, president and founder of Steward Speakers, Inc., says their mission is to promote dialogue and cultural exchanges by providing access to renowned African-American leaders. The hope is to inspire, educate, and celebrate those making a difference in the community.

The 2024 Steward Speakers’ Annual Gala featuring Sanders is scheduled for 7 p.m. April 11 at Lucas Oil Stadium.
