Woman dead, 3 others injured in 3-vehicle crash

NASHVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — One woman died and three other people were injured in a three-vehicle crash Friday in Nashville.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of State Road 46 East and Old Nashville Road near Nelson Ridge Road around 3:53 p.m. Friday, the sheriff’s office reported Sunday. 

An investigation revealed that a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Sheila Hendricks, of Taylorsville, was traveling westbound on State Road 46 East when it rear-ended a 2012 Hyundai Sonata driven by Eric Knechtel of Columbus. 

The Grand Caravan then crossed into the eastbound lanes and hit a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Joy Watson, of Anderson. 

Watson was taken by medical helicopter to IU Health Methodist Hospital. Her front seat passenger, Baylee Bell, of Anderson, was taken to Columbus Regional Health, while her backseat passenger, Jane Lyons, of Anderson, was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Hendricks was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital. The conditions of Watson, Bell and Hendricks were not available on Sunday. 

The crash remained under investigation, pending toxicology and crash reconstruction results.
