Man arrested after confessing he whipped 12-year-old girl with belt for not wanting to go to school
WESTLAKE, La. (KLFY) — A Louisiana man was arrested Tuesday after police say he confessed to whipping his girlfriend’s daughter with a belt when she refused to go to school.
23-year-old Taylor Ashworth was charged with cruelty to a juvenile.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Deputies say they responded to a complaint in reference to possible cruelty to a juvenile.
On the scene, they say they spoke with the 12-year-old victim who stated her mother’s boyfriend whipped her with a belt numerous times.
Deputies say they observed numerous red marks on her arms and legs.
Ashworth was arrested on scene and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on a $2,500 bond.
