Newly-crowned 500 Festival Queen Scholar talks empowering others, her book

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The spirit and legacy of the Indy 500 isn’t just about race cars.

It’s about inspiring and empowering others, something the 500 Festival Princess program sets out to do each year.

One young woman exemplifies a strong commitment to others.

Janae Quinn, the 2021 500 Festival Queen Scholar, was on Daybreak Wednesday.

A junior at Indiana University Kokomo, who is studying elementary education, she talked about why she wanted to be a princess.

Additionally, she talked about what being a queen scholar means to her and about a book she wrote.
