Person of interest in Brazil homicide case dies, autopsy scheduled

UPDATE 10/16/16 – The person of interest in a Brazil homicide case has died.

Indiana State Police confirm the autopsy will be scheduled for Monday at 1 p.m.

Officials are not releasing the name of the individual at this time.

BRAZIL, Ind. (WTHI) – The Police Chief of Brazil confirms there is an on-going homicide investigation in Brazil.

Officials report it was just after midnight that a 911 call was made stating there was a person with a gunshot wound in the 900 block of  Noble Street.

That person has been identified as Eric Hutton II. He was taken to St. Vincent Clay Hospital where officials report he died from his injuries.

Just after 1:00 Friday afternoon, police located a person of interest in the investigation inside of an apartment located in the 600 block of West Central Avenue in Brazil.

Officers attempted to talk the man out of the apartment.

According to police, he appeared in the window quickly, showing his hands.

After the man closed the curtains, police heard a single gunshot.

Officers entered the apartment and found the man on the floor with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Emergency crews took the person of interest to Regional Hospital in Terre Haute with life-threatening injuries.

Officials haven’t released the man’s name.
