Police: Pizza place worker sent bomb threat to get day off
DYER, Ind. (AP) – Police say a woman working at a pizza place in northwest Indiana texted a fake bomb threat to a co-worker in hopes of getting the rest of the day off.
The (Munster) Times reports 18-year-old Ashley N. Keichinger of Dyer was charged with false information and intimidation Friday.
An affidavit says an employee at Doreen’s Pizzeria in Dyer called police June 6 after getting messages from a number he didn’t know. One message threatened to “blow up the place” if the employee didn’t have workers leave by 3 p.m.
According to police, detectives traced the number to a messaging app. The affidavit says Keichinger admitted to sending the messages because she hoped the restaurant would close for the day.
It wasn’t immediately clear if Keichinger has an attorney.
