Ravens’ Tray Walker dies after dirt bike crash
MIAMI (KRON) – Baltimore Ravens cornerback Tray Walker has died a day after police say he was involved in a dirt bike crash in Miami, according to local media reports.
According the Baltimore Sun, Walker died Friday at 5 p.m. from injuries sustained in a motorbike accident on Thursday night.
Miami-Dade Police say Walker was riding a Honda dirt bike with no lights and wearing dark clothing when he collided with a Ford Escape at about 8 p.m. Thursday.
The Ravens say Walker was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Walker was selected in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL draft. He played in eight games last season, mostly on special teams.
In a statement, Ravens coach John Harbaugh said, “This is devastating news. Our prayers and hopes are with Tray and his family tonight.”
The team has not yet issued an official statement on Walkers death, but the official twitter account of the Ravens has been broadcasting tweets from teammates asking for prayers for the 23-year-old outside cornerback.
Eric Weddle, who played with the San Diego Chargers last season but signed with the Ravens this week, called the news “devastating.”
“Devastating news about my teammate Tra Walker. RIP Tray. Wish I could of shared the field with u this year. We will make u proud!!!!!!,” he tweeted.
A native of Miami, Walker attended Miami Northwestern High School before playing in college at Texas Southern.
