Residents prepare for winter weather

Winter weather preparations

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) — People in central Indiana are already preparing for the forecasted winter storm Wednesday by checking their cars and homes and stocking the refrigerator.

This storm has the potential to knock out power and make the roads treacherous, according to Storm Track 8 meteorologists Randy Ollis and Stephanie Mead.

Some say they plan to stay inside Wednesday night and Thursday morning and will need to get two days’ worth of errands done in the first few hours of Wednesday.

Kroger spokesperson Eric Halvorson says even though it’s a cliche, grocers really do see a spike in shoppers purchasing bread, milk and eggs.

“It’s like they’re going to make a lot of French toast,” said Halvorson.

In fact, shoppers at the Fishers Kroger on 116th Street and Cumberland Road have already mentioned the storm when checking out Tuesday evening, says Halvorson.

His team has stocked up on those essentials in-store and with other services like Kroger Grocery Pickup.

Keep an eye on the weather as the Winter Weather Advisory begins at 1 p.m. Wednesday with the WISH-TV weather app and on-air at 5, 6, 10, and 11 p.m.
