Simon Mall announces its shopping centers will be open on Thanksgiving Day
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Simon Malls has announced its plans for Thanksgiving, and Volkswagen reaches a deal on the diesel emissions scandal.
Simon Property Group will open their shopping centers on Thanksgiving Day, dashing the hopes of many that the holiday would once gain be a shopping-free day as it was just 5 years ago.
Simon said while it doesn’t require its malls open on the holiday, most will do so at 6 p.m.
Rival General Growth Properties said it will also open most of its malls on Thanksgiving Day.
In other business headlines, Volkswagen received final court approval of a $14.7 billion settlement with consumer and government agencies that could get nearly half a million diesel-powered cars off U.S. roads.
The deal offers drivers of the diesel-powered vehicles the option of selling back their cars to Volkswagen or waiting for a government-approved fix that would allow the cars to stay on the road.
