AC’s annual Charity Golf Classic raises money for Teachers’ Treasures

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – WISH TV’s Sports Director Anthony Calhoun hosted his annual AC Charity Golf Classic on July 13, 2020. The event raises money for Teachers’ Treasures in central Indiana.

This year over $250,000 was raised as part of a record-breaking fundraising year for the event. The initiative has raised over $1.5 million collectively over the years.

Chatham Hills in Westfield played host to the tournament again this year, and it was a sold-out event with lots of local celebrities in attendance.

Former World No. 1 tennis pro Andy Roddick explained why he chose to travel to Westfield to play in the event.

“Teachers’ Treasures is near and dear to my friend AC’s heart,” Roddick said. “I’ve known AC for over 20 years now, and it’s a no-brainer to come up and play for his cause.”

Even Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel attended.

“A good buddy of mine is from this area and he’s been telling me a little bit about what AC does out here and what he brings to these teachers and these schools, the money he raises, and the things he does to help. I look at people like that in a very high standard,” Manziel said.

Colts center Ryan Kelly said he loves golfing in his offseason, and it’s even better when you are giving back while playing a round.

“When you tie in such an incredible charity like Teachers’ Treasures, it just makes it that much more important,” Kelly added. “I think everyone has kind of been locked in their houses and it’s a great way to get out and about, but it’s a great way to raise money and a cause for teachers all around and help promote the city we live in.”
