SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) — NASCAR’s 2022 visit to Indianapolis Motor Speedway will again run on the road course.

IMS officials announced that NASCAR’s yearly trip will occur on July 31, 2022. The Sunday race will be paired with a Saturday IndyCar race the day prior.

The series ran on the road course for the first time on Aug. 15. The series ran on the traditional oval configuration since the inaugural race in 1994.

The initial road course race was marred by crashes after drivers tore up the curbing on turn five, leading to the entire chicane being removed by track workers.
