1 dead, 1 hospitalized after two separate Kokomo shootings

UPDATE: Kokomo police have found the Buick LeSabre. It was unoccupied when located.

KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) — One person is dead and another suffered a wound to the face after two separate shootings in Kokomo Sunday morning. 

Officers were first dispatched out to the 400 block of West Monroe Street on reports of gunshots in the area around 3:43 a.m. Upon arrival, police found 50-year-old Keith Jewel dead from a single gunshot wound.

Witnesses said a suspect fled the scene on foot wearing a dark colored hoodie sweatshirt. 

Another shooting was reported around 4 a.m. in the 1100 block of North Lindsay where a 55-year-old man was found suffering a gunshot wound to the face. He was later airlifted to an area hospital in stable condition.

The man later told officers that while he was sitting in a 2002 Buick Le Sabre while dropping off a passenger. A suspect then entered in the passenger side of the vehicle and demanded the man to exit the car and get on the ground. The suspect then fired a shot, striking the man in the face.

The suspect in this incident is described as being around 5 feet 7 inches and weighing about 170 pounds, wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt with light skin.

Th suspect then fled in the victim’s vehicle. The Le Sabre has license plates of 606BWH.

It is unknown if the two shootings are related.
