Father charged in death of six-week-old son

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A father was charged with murder of his six-week-old son Thursday morning.

Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry announced Thursday that charges were filed against Isaac Hicks, 19, in the death of his son Zhion Hicks.

Police said on June 6 around 10 a.m. officers were sent to the 2900 block of North Gale Street on reports of an unresponsive child.

The child was transported to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health, where he was pronounced dead.

Hicks faces the following charges

• Murder
• Neglect of a dependent resulting in death
• Battery resulting in death to a person less than 14 years of age

An autopsy performed on Zhion found the cause of death was due to multiple blunt force trauma, according to a probable cause affidavit. It said the injuries were consistent with non-accidental injuries.

Hicks is scheduled to appear in court on Friday at 1 p.m.
