Eleven Fifty makes courses available online statewide

INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) — Indianapolis-based Eleven Fifty Academy has made all of its courses available online to all Hoosiers statewide. The nonprofit coding school says the switch is in response to “the current workforce pressures” affecting Indiana.

The decision follows Eleven Fifty’s efforts to bring its nine classrooms online for its current students as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Chief Learning Officer Dr. Jonathan Huer says the transition opened up opportunities for others throughout the state at a faster rate than the school originally anticipated.

“Due to current conditions, we were able to successfully and strategically align our virtual classrooms with the needs of our curriculum, without compromising quality,” Huer said “We are getting better at this each day.”

Eleven Fifty says anyone can now enroll in its courses, including web development, application development and cybersecurity.

“This opportunity to transform lives by rapidly ramping students into rewarding careers is a happy side effect of the current global conditions,” Scott Jones, founder and president of Eleven Fifty Academy, said in a news release. “While there are economic challenges for many companies, this directly impacts employees and we are grateful for the support from the state and regional and local organizations who are helping to make this possible.”

Eleven Fifty says prior to the online switch, it had already been in discussions and committed expansion to Fort Wayne, Evansville and WestGate@Crane in southern Indiana. The school says it is also working with the Wabash Heartland Innovation Network on an expansion to the 10-county region around Lafayette.
