Animals to strut virtually in Indy Humane’s largest fundraiser
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The 17th Annual Mutt Strut goes virtual on Saturday. Volunteers are encouraging you to participate by taking your own pets for a walk this year.
The ‘friend-raiser’ is usually at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS), but it is on a smaller scale due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Animals up for adoption will walk around the Indy Humane parking lot. CEO David Horth told News 8 there will be dogs, cats, puppies and kittens in the adoption pet parade.
Indy Humane is expecting more than 1,000 people to register for Mutt Strut.
Horth said it costs $400,000 to maintain operations a month and it’s a no-kill shelter that solely operates on donations. Volunteers have worked to make this virtual event creative and engaging.
“We’re having a city-wide scavenger hunt where you can go to different locations including many of our sponsors and their retail stores and their places of business that are sponsoring us. You can go and take a picture there to participate in a virtual scavenger hunt,” Horth said.
