Woman shot, killed in neighborhood on near-northwest side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 33-year-old woman is dead after a shooting in a neighborhood on the near-northwest side, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said Monday.

The woman was identified Tuesday by the Marion County Coroner’s Office as Reonna Jackson.

IMPD were sent about 4:25 p.m. Monday to 1200 block of Congress Avenue, between 30th Street and Interstate 65, and found a woman with a gunshot wound. She was found outdoors behind homes on the block and died at the scene.

Police had not yet finished their investigation late Monday afternoon and did not have details on what led to the shooting.

The woman’s identity was not immediately provided. IMPD was working to provide information to the family.

The death is the 83rd homicide in Indianapolis in 2021.
