The Film Yap reviews "On the Basis of Sex" and other features opening this weekend

With the predicted snowfall on the way, this weekend might be the perfect time to head to the theater and catch a movie. But which one?

The Film Yap's Christopher Lloyd runs down the list of "what's playing."

On the Basis of Sex -- Ruth Bader Ginsburg gets her second feature film of the year, in this depiction of her early years as a crusading lawyer for gender equality. An unsurprising movie that does what it does very well.

The Upside -- Bryan Cranston is a wealthy quadriplegic and Kevin Hart is the unqualified wisecracker hired to give him care and lift is spirits in this dramedy.

A Dog’s Way Home -- Another unrepentant tear-jerker from the “A Dog’s Purpose” team, about a runaway pooch who has an epic journey to return to her person. No, there’s something in YOUR eye…

If Beale Street Could Talk -- “Moonlight” writer/director Barry Jenkins returns in this gorgeous adaptation of the book by James Baldwin about a young black couple facing injustice and opposition to their marriage.

Replicas -- Keanu Reeves plays a scientist who wants to bring back his dead family in this D-list sci-fi thriller.
