Armed forces honored ahead of Indiana Derby Day
SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A salute to our armed forces Thursday was even more emotional in the wake of the Chattanooga shootings.
The event leading up to Indiana Derby Day featured special military guests, patriotic music and a live auction.
It was all to support the Helping Hands for Freedom charity that offers mentorship programs to families of service members.
It’s that kind of support Staff Sergenant Patrick Shannon knows the victim’s families in Chattanooga might need.
They hope to raise a lot of money for that great cause.
And tonight that event continued with a free concert by “The Voice” winner Josh Kaufman.
