1 killed in shooting at near-north side KFC

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man is dead after a shooting on the near-north side Sunday afternoon, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers responded to a report of a person shot at a KFC/Taco Bell restaurant in the the 2400 block of North Meridian Street just after noon.

The victim, later identified as James Jones II, 25, was initially reported to be in critical condition and was pronounced dead about an hour later.

Police say that a person of interest has been detained.
