INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man died Saturday night in a shooting on the city’s near northeast side.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to the 1700 block of Bellefontaine Street, just east of 17th Street and College Avenue, around 9:30 p.m. Saturday to investigate several reports of shots fired.
Police arrived to find a man lying in the street with apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency medical professionals attempted treatment, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Officer Genae Cook at the scene.
Detectives on Saturday night were speaking to witnesses and asked that anyone who had information about the shooting call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
No additional information about the identity of the victim was immediately available.
