Google teaches self-driving car to honk
MOUNTAIN VIEW (KRON) – Google’s self-driving technology has a new, noisy feature, according to CNN.
Its self-driving cars can now honk.
Google said its engineers have found a way to program the car’s computer brain. It can now understand which road situations might require a beep of the horn.
The idea is to teach the cars how to honk as if they were patient, seasoned drivers.
Testing has included scenarios like backing out of a blind driveway or heading the wrong way on a one-way street.
Another noise update – Google is designing a “hum” so pedestrians and cyclists can hear the car coming.
