Cass County home explosion injures 1

TWELVE MILE, Ind. (WISH) — Investigators are looking into a home explosion in Cass County that injured one man.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded just before 10 a.m. Friday to the 7000 block of County Road 600 East. That’s about 8 miles northeast of Logansport.

Investigators say the homeowner, 63-year-old Paul Ulerick, was working in his basement when the explosion occurred. A good Samaritan pulled Ulerick from debris and fire, according to investigators. He was taken to a Logansport hospital before being flown to a Fort Wayne trauma center.

No one else was in the residence.

The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office is working to find the cause.
