INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — In a continuing project, IndyGo bus service says it will shut down two Red Line stops for improvements beginning Monday.

The stations in five blocks of College Avenue between 54th Street and Kessler Boulevard East Drive will be closed until sometime in August, IndyGo says.

The Red Line is a rapid transit bus running 13 miles from 66th Street on the north side to University Avenue near the University of Indianapolis on the south side.

The improvements, initially expected to cost $5,147,025.38, began in June 2022 and were expected to be done by August this year.

The Red Line began service in 2019. As I-Team 8 reported, the improvements were announced the following year after authorities determined the buses were too heavy for some city streets and Red Line stations, especially along Capitol and College avenues and Meridian Street.
