MUNCIE, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) – Bloomington-based WS Property Group has broken ground on the first phase of downtown Muncie’s $9 million mixed-use riverfront development. The city says the White River Lofts will include 55 residential apartments along the riverfront in the central business district.

The project will also include ground floor commercial space.

In addition to the lofts, the city says the first phase will include a new riverfront plaza and riverwalk that will connect to the city’s trail network.

The development is located in a Federal Opportunity Zone, and the city says the investment will provide attractive housing options for the local workforce.

“White River Lofts will bring vigor to our downtown and offer housing in a convenient and beautiful location. Muncie is lucky to have four “opportunity zones” which help attract investors to our great City. These zones have helped bring in a large amount of investment, and will continue to give our City a competitive advantage,” said Mayor Dan Ridenour.

The city says the project is planned for completion in spring 2021.
