Job applicant caught stealing from Florida Kohl’s after interview

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Authorities say a man walked into a Kohl’s for a job interview and left with a pair of stolen shoes.

Needless to say, he didn’t get the job.

Dominick Breedlove was arrested and charged with retail theft after an incident at the Kohl’s department store on Aerial Way in Spring Hill, Florida.

About 4 p.m. Wednesday, investigators said a loss-prevention employee contacted the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office to report a retail theft in progress.

The employee said Breedlove had come to the store for a job interview. After the interview, he started checking out the Nike display to look for shoes without a security tag. Once he found them, he left the store and got a Kohl’s bag from a previous shopping trip. He then returned to the store, stalled a bit and left with the shoes, a pair of Nike Air Bella TR shoes valued at $80, and a pair of women’s Nike Elite TR shoes valued at $70.

Breedlove was arrested on his way to the car.

He later told deputies he planned to gift the shoes to his mother.

He was booked into the Hernando County Detention Center, where he was being held on a $500 bond.
