INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer was injured in a crash on the city’s east side Wednesday morning, according to IMPD.

The two-vehicle crash happened in the area of 10th and Tuxedo streets before 4 a.m.

Police say the officer was traveling westbound on 10th Street with their lights and siren on, attempting to catch up to a speeding SUV.

The second vehicle ran a stop sign at Tuxedo Street and collided with the police officer, IMPD says.

IMPD says the officer was in good condition and was transported to the hospital for checkout.

The driver of the other vehicle, who was arrested for driving under the influence, had to be extricated out of the vehicle. They were awake and breathing during transportation to the hospital.
