Puppies dropped off at Indianapolis fire station

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Fire Department is reminding people what to do if you have animals you don’t want.

The reminder comes after someone dropped off a litter of puppies at a local fire station. The fire department posted a picture of the puppies on Facebook this weekend.

Firefighters turned the abandoned puppies over to Indianapolis Animal Care and Control. Fire officials say while they’re glad to have been able to help in this situation, they’re not normally equipped to take care of animals.

Officials say if you need to surrender an animal, take it directly to the IACC or the Humane Society.
