Child airlifted to hospital after being ejected from vehicle

JASPER COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – An 11-year-old was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital after being thrown from a vehicle Sunday evening.

According to the Indiana State Police, a 2003 GMC Yukon, driven by 40-year-old Teshawana Crisler, was headed south on I-65 in Jasper County when it sustained a flat tire.

Crisler overcorrected, causing the vehicle to go off the roadway into a center cable barrier and finally rolled over.

During the crash, an 11-year-old child was ejected from the vehicle. The child was airlifted to St. Vincent’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  ISP says the child was not wearing a seat belt.

Crisler was also airlifted to a hospital in Illinois, also with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say a three-year-old and a four-year-old were checked out at the scene of the crash.
