Vandals damage Christmas inflatables put up for boy with terminal brain cancer

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WCMH) – A real-life Grinch struck a Cincinnati-area neighborhood.

Doctors believe 2-year-old Brody Allen won’t make it to Christmas. Brody was born with an aggressive brain cancer that doctors say is untreatable, WCPO reported.

Friends and neighbors started decorating their homes in September, so Brody could have one last Christmas, even if he may not make it until December.

Now, vandals struck some of those decorations, stabbing a Santa and vandalizing other inflatables put up in the neighborhood.

“It’s certainly disheartening,” said Todd Allen, Brody’s father. “It’s Christmas, you can pop Santa, we’re just going to put him right back up. You can’t break Christmas.”

Neighbor Perry Mattan is patching up the inflatables. He spent more than two hours one day sewing Santa back together.

“His family just trying to make his last time here as happy as possible,” said Mattan. “It’s nice seeing the love. But then you got that .1 percent that want to kind of ruin it for that little boy and I just don’t get it.”

Police in Colerain Township are now looking for the vandals.

“We’re just going to keep on with this and enjoy the spirit of Christmas as much as we possibly can for Brody,” said Todd Allen.
