1 dead, 1 in critical following shooting on near northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating after two people were shot on the near northeast side of Indianapolis Wednesday morning.

According to dispatch, the shooting happened in the 2300 block of North Dearborn Street around 10:32 a.m. when 28-year-old John Jones got into an altercation with another man. Jones then allegedly shot the man before being shot himself by another person nearby.

Jones succumbed to his injuries Wednesday night.

The other victim remains in critical condition at Sidney & Losi Eskenazi Hospital.

The investigation remains ongoing.
