Indy Burger Battle announces 2020 champions

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The 2020 Indy Burger Battle Champions have been crowned.

A team of judges and 400 Hoosiers decided who makes the best burger in Indianapolis.

The Indy Burger Battle judges chose two champions: Gallery Pastry Bar won the Critic’s Choice and Binkley’s Kitchen and Bar won the People’s Choice.

The competition’s eighth year was dedicated to helping support local restaurants trying to get through the COVID-19 pandemic, and it raised $28,000 for Indianapolis-based nonprofit Building Tomorrow.

“All of the restaurants who are involved with us do this as a donation,” George Srour, co-founder of Building Tomorrow. “They’re not getting anything out of it outside of bringing people in and so we thought this year it would be a really cool opportunity to bring people to their restaurants to help bolster business. They’ve had it rough and so we feel like this is one thing we can do as an active member of this community to make sure that local establishments are able to do well, too.”
