Former community youth league president and treasurer charged for theft

CLOVERDALE, Ind. (WISH) — The former treasurer and president of a southwestern Indiana community youth league have been charged with theft, the Indiana State Police announced in a press release on Thursday.

The investigation of Stephen Caulkins, 41, of Cloverdale, and Amber Caulkins, 37, of Cloverdale, began in July, the release said. Stephen Caulkins served as president of the league and Amber Caulkins as treasurer from 2018 through 2020.

Police say the couple was not depositing funds into the league’s bank accounts, and instead kept the money for themselves, depriving the league of nearly $22,000.

The two face preliminary charges of theft and conspiracy to commit theft. Both are scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 27.
