Woman arrested after deadly hit-and-run in Broad Ripple

BROAD RIPPLE, Ind. (WISH) — One person has died and a woman has been arrested following a fatal hit-and-run crash in Broad Ripple early Sunday morning. 

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said a female pedestrian stepped into oncoming traffic just after 3:00 a.m. at 800 Broad Ripple Ave. and was struck by a vehicle.

The driver, who has been identified as 28-year-old Monique Willis, fled the scene following the incident. Willis was located several blocks away from the crash and taken into custody, police said.

IMPD said Willis was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident. 

The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
