Greenwood man attacked trying to help ‘stranded motorist’

GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) – Greenwood Police are investigating after a man was attacked when he stopped to help someone change a tire on the side of the road.

According to our partners at the Johnson County Daily Journal, the Greenwood man was attacked when he got out of his car to help someone he believed to be a stranded motorist.

An officer was patrolling the area and saw the two cars pulled over. When the officer walked up to the cars, he noticed the victim alone and hurt.

The victim was sent to a local hospital with injuries to his head and stomach.

The incident happened in a subdivision off of Emerson Avenue.

Police are still searching for a suspect.
