Evansville man hands over Mercedes’ keys to veteran in need

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Last month an Evansville man decided to give away his Mercedes to someone in need.

More than 1,000 people wrote in sharing their stories and Wednesday the lucky winner was finally able to take the car home.

More than a week ago, the winner of the car was announced.

“He fought for our country, he makes kids smile. It’s my honor to do something like that,” said Brian Bennett, who is giving the car away.

For months, veteran and Hadi Shrine Funster Brian Bullock hasn’t had a car, but with the luck of a draw, his life was changed instantly.

“Here’s a great human being trying to help others,” said Bennett.

“It’s an awesome, awesome gesture and I’m overwhelmed with gratitude,” said Bullock. “Takes a great human to do something like that.”

Immediately after Bullock was chosen, Bennett had the car serviced so it would be ready to go.

“Our family has been so happy for them and we love them very much,” said Ashley McDonald who nominated Bullock.

And becoming a new car owner comes with many responsibilities. Luckily Huck’s Food and Fuel is helping Bullock out by donating a $500 gas gift card.

“Now I found a guy who is a wonderful friend,” said Bullock.

Bennett hopes people see this story and begin spreading kindness and giving back in their own community.
