Ag tech company names new CEO
WESTFIELD, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — Westfield-based ag technology firm Taranis has announced Bar Veinstein will serve as its chief executive officer. The company, which last month announced plans for its new global headquarters in Hamilton County, says Veinstein most recently served as president of Ex Libris, a Software-as-a-Service company headquartered in Chicago.
Veinstein succeeds co-founder and current CEO Ofir Schlam, who will continue with the company as president and member of the board of directors.
“I am thrilled to welcome Bar to the Taranis team as we continue to focus on scaling the company and driving our innovative agenda into new markets,” Schlam said in a news release. “Bar’s track record will enable us to keep building off our strong foundation to empower growth and address the agronomic challenges our customers face as we usher in this exciting new chapter.”
Prior to joining Ex Libris in 2010, Veinstein held senior product management and marketing leadership roles at New Jersey-based NICE Americas, a subsidiary of Israel-based NICE Systems (Nasdaq: NICE).
Taranis has developed technology that uses drones to capture high-resolution photos of fields, which its artificial intelligence platform can use to find challenges to crops, such as disease or insects.
Last month, the company said it is investing more than $10 million to lease and equip a 6,000-square-foot facility in Westfield to serve as its headquarters and create up to 60 jobs.
