INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) — The Indianapolis International Airport is again adding to its nonstop flight offerings. American Airlines Group Inc. (Nasdaq: AAL) says it will begin its first seasonal, nonstop international flight from Indy to Cancun in December.

The route will run from December 19 through April 3. The airport says it will be one of the first international flights out of Indy in months due to the pandemic.

“Our airline partners watch the trends and know the market demand, so this new American Airline’s route is an encouraging first step in reviving international travel, and it’s the first time American has offered a flight from Indy to Cancun,” said Indianapolis Airport Authority Executive Director Mario Rodriguez.

Tickets for the new route are on sale now. The announcement comes just days after Delta Air Lines Inc. (NYSE: DAL) said it would begin a new nonstop flight to Memphis, Tennessee in October, marking the return of a route that had been missing since 2015.
