Pacers partnership brings solar power to St. Vincent Center
INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) – Pacers Sports & Entertainment Inc. is partnering with Ohio-based Electro Green Energy Solutions and India-based iSolar Brokers on a rooftop solar project at the St. Vincent Center in downtown Indianapolis. The organization says the project will include both solar power generation and energy storage for the facility.
Pacers Sports & Entertainment says the energy storage portion of the project will involve a micro-grid that will deliver electricity to the fourth floor of the St. Vincent Center.
“We are proud of our continued efforts to make our facilities as clean and green as possible,” said PS&E President Rick Fuson. “This project aligns perfectly with our overall mission, and we are grateful to EGES and iSolar Brokers for their partnership.”
The 130,000-square-foot facility, which opened in 2017, provides primary care services to the public. It also includes two practice courts and training space for the Indiana Pacers.
The energy storage solution at St. Vincent’s is the latest sustainability initiative PS&E has undertaken. PS&E says its other efforts include converting non-recyclable waste to energy, numerous recycling measures and staging zero-waste events.
“PS&E is part of a growing list of professional sports venues putting an emphasis on renewable energy and solar solutions recognizing it’s an essential part of the future,” said Nick Koon, vice president of EGES.
The Pacers and Indiana Fever also are involved in Threes for Trees, planting a tree for every three-pointer made during their seasons.
